The Aquamaniac is one of several low-budget film monsters portrayed by John "Hannibal" Smith. It is the most popular monster he plays, others including Gatorella and Killgator.
Smith's portrayal of the character can also be seen as a disguise. A fugitive from the military police, he plays masked roles to have his face hidden while still earning payment.
